A new update from Aqara: Sleep measurement now available

The recently released firmware update 1.2.3 for the Aqara FP2 sensor has introduced an exciting sleep monitoring feature. This update allows monitoring of an individual's sleep status and vital signs, including reports on sleep phases, real-time monitoring of heart rate and respiratory rate. It is reported that this feature is currently only available in China, where it provides a new sleep monitoring mode for the Aqara FP2 sensor.

The Aqara FP2 sensor, recently launched in April 2023, is part of Aqara's broad portfolio of smart sensors and is specifically designed for precise detection of human presence. The sensor is equipped with millimeter wave (mmWave) radar technology, which helps solve many problems that traditional passive infrared (PIR) sensors have.

With the new sleep monitoring function, it is intended that the sensor should be located above the bed pointing towards the chest area to be able to monitor the user effectively. At the moment, this feature is offered free of charge but with indications suggesting that a fee may be charged for the feature in the future.

The feature does not appear to work for couples but is intended for one person only.
