Switchbot unveils Hub Mini with support for Matter
SwitchBot has become a well-known name in the smart home segment in recent years and has widened its circle of users. Now the company has updated its Hub Mini with a new version that offers support for Matter (and thus also Apple home).
The new Hub Mini works like its predecessor, the Switchbot Hub 2, as a central unit for controlling other Switchbot devices via Bluetooth. These devices are now becoming available in HomeKit through Matter, but with a restriction to six devices according to the company's website. The hub also includes an IR blaster, which allows you to integrate and control your home's IR-based devices (such as TVs, air conditioners, fans, etc.) via the SwitchBot app or Apple Home app. The integration allows only basic on/off controls, except for air conditioners where modes and fan speed can be adjusted.
In addition to Matter support, the new Hub Mini has received an additional feature in the form of an external temperature and humidity sensor integrated into its USB-C charging cable, an innovation first introduced with the SwitchBot Hub 2.
At the moment, the hub has only been made public on SwitchBot's Japanese website. However, it is likely that the hub will arrive here in Sweden shortly.
