Ecobee launches doorbell with video for Apple Home
Ecobee, best known for its smart thermostats, has launched its first video doorbell, referred to as the Smart Doorbell Camera. This marks the company's first outdoor product following the launch of their indoor HomeKit camera in 2021. This new Smart Doorbell Camera is designed to integrate seamlessly with Apple HomeKit, enabling a harmonized smart home experience. It offers a range of features and technical specifications that expand users' capabilities to interact with and monitor their homes remotely.
With support for Apple HomeKit, users can easily connect the doorbell to their Apple devices and other smart home systems. Camera has 1080p resolution and HDR at up to 30 fps, 5MP camera sensor and digital zoom (8x). Other features include two-way communication with noise cancellation, as well as two long-range microphones and a speaker.
The camera also features person and packet detection with advanced radar verification (packet detection requires Ecobee Smart Security subscription)
The camera offers broad compatibility with other smart home systems such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant (in development), and Ecobee Smart Security. With the option of 30 days of video storage, packet detection and rich notifications for only $5/month.
The Ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera is an exciting addition to Ecobee's growing product line and a promising step towards creating a more integrated and user-friendly smart home experience for Apple users.
Ecobee products are not yet available outside North America.
